Learn-AI.School Innovation Challenge Crowns Student AI Projects

The National Learn-AI.School Innovation Challenge 2026, run under the Office of the President, has named its winners — a schools-level competition that asked students to apply AI to real problems rather than simply learn about it in the abstract.

The Winners

Sodnac SSS took the Grade 10 category, while London College won Grade 12. A Special Jury Award went to André Lélio Roussety Songes College in Rodrigues, recognising a project from outside the Mauritian mainland. Runners-up included Sookdeo Bissoondoyal State College and St Andrew's School in Grade 10, and Forest Side SSS Girls in Grade 12.

What the Challenge Was Looking For

Organisers framed the competition around impact rather than technical complexity, with submissions judged on "solving real problems, helping people, and creating meaningful change." The challenge involved students, mentors, rectors, and educators across participating schools.

Coming on the heels of the national AI Strategy's push to reach 12,000 Grade 9 students with AI-powered learning tools, competitions like this one give a early read on how the next generation is actually engaging with the technology — not just consuming AI tools, but building with them.
