Last updated: 11 July 2026. This Policy explains how artificial intelligence relates to Mauritius AI Network — both how we use it to operate the platform, and what we expect from members who represent, discuss, or apply AI through the platform.
1. Purpose of AI on the Platform
Mauritius AI Network exists to connect AI professionals, organisations, and ecosystem partners in Mauritius through a verified, mediated directory. Today, the platform itself does not deploy AI systems to make decisions about your account — verification and moderation decisions are made by our human review team. Where we do or may in future use AI-assisted tooling (for example, to help detect spam or surface relevant listings), it plays a supporting role, never a decision-making one, and this Policy will be updated accordingly.
2. Responsible AI Principles
We align our approach — and expect our members' representations about their own AI work — with widely recognised responsible AI principles:
- Human oversight over decisions that materially affect people;
- Transparency about where and how AI is involved;
- Fairness and active mitigation of bias;
- Accountability for outcomes, including the ability to explain and contest them;
- Privacy and security by design in any AI-related processing.
3. Human Oversight
No automated system on Mauritius AI Network makes a final decision that produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you — such as approving or rejecting your verification, suspending your account, or removing your content. Those decisions are made, or confirmed, by a member of our team. If we introduce AI-assisted moderation tooling in future, it will flag content for human review rather than act unilaterally, and you will always be able to request human review of a decision that affects you.
One narrow exception: mediated inquiry messages are automatically screened by a simple, non-AI keyword and pattern filter that blocks obvious spam before it reaches a recipient. This is rule-based text matching, not an AI or machine-learning system, and it only affects whether a message is delivered — it never touches your account, profile, or verification status. If your message was blocked in error, contact us and we'll review it manually.
4. Transparency
Where a feature on the platform is materially assisted by AI, we will identify it as such. We expect the same of our members: if a profile, job description, event listing, or opportunity was substantially AI-generated, it should read as accurate and not be presented in a way designed to mislead readers about its origin or the capabilities it describes.
5. Accuracy Disclaimer
Mauritius AI Network is a discovery and networking platform. While profiles undergo a verification step, we do not independently audit the technical claims, credentials, or AI capabilities that members describe about themselves or their organisations. Listings, descriptions, and any AI-assisted summaries or recommendations shown on the platform are provided for informational purposes and should not be relied upon as professional, technical, or legal advice without independent verification.
6. User Responsibilities
When representing your AI-related work, products, or services on the platform, you agree to:
- Describe your AI capabilities, credentials, and offerings honestly and without exaggeration;
- Disclose clearly where content you post is substantially AI-generated;
- Ensure any AI system, product, or service you promote complies with applicable Mauritian law and, where relevant, international frameworks such as the EU AI Act;
- Respect the intellectual property and personal data rights of others when using AI tools to produce content for the platform.
7. Prohibited Uses
You may not use the platform to promote, distribute, or facilitate AI systems or AI-generated content that:
- Deceives, impersonates, or is designed to manipulate people without their knowledge or consent;
- Generates or distributes non-consensual intimate imagery, deepfakes of real individuals, or synthetic media intended to defame or defraud;
- Facilitates unlawful surveillance, discrimination, or profiling of individuals;
- Is used to scrape, harvest, or misappropriate other members' personal data from the platform;
- Violates any applicable law in Mauritius, including the Data Protection Act 2017 and the ICT Act;
- Is used to generate spam, fraudulent listings, or fake profiles on the platform itself.
8. Intellectual Property
You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to any content — including AI-generated content — you submit to the platform, and that it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party, including the outputs or training data of other AI systems. You retain ownership of content you post, subject to the licence granted to us in our Terms of Service to display it on the platform.
9. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Any summaries, suggestions, or assistive text that may be generated with the help of AI tooling — whether by us or by members using third-party AI tools to draft their listings — can be inaccurate or incomplete. Such content is provided "as is" without warranty. Always exercise your own judgement, and verify important details directly with the relevant professional or organisation before relying on them.
10. Fairness & Bias
We are committed to a directory that fairly represents the diversity of the Mauritius AI ecosystem. Where we use any automated ranking, filtering, or recommendation logic, we design it around objective, disclosed criteria (such as verification status, profile completeness, or relevance to a search) rather than protected characteristics. If you believe a feature of the platform is producing unfair or biased outcomes, please tell us — see Reporting Abuse below.
11. Privacy & Confidentiality
Do not input another person's personal or confidential information into third-party AI tools to generate content for this platform without their consent. Any personal data processed by AI-assisted features on the platform is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and our Data Protection page.
12. Security
You must not attempt to probe, reverse-engineer, or interfere with any AI-assisted or automated system on the platform, including attempts to bypass moderation, verification, or spam-detection logic. Doing so is treated as a security violation under our Terms of Service.
13. Reporting Abuse
If you encounter content, a listing, or behaviour on the platform that you believe misuses AI, violates this Policy, or is otherwise harmful, please report it to hello@mauritiusai.org with as much detail as possible (a link to the profile or listing, and a description of the concern). We review reports promptly and treat them confidentially.
14. Platform Enforcement
Where we determine that this Policy has been breached, we may, depending on severity:
- Request that content be corrected or removed;
- Unpublish or remove the listing or profile in question;
- Suspend or terminate the associated account;
- Report unlawful conduct to the relevant Mauritian authorities where required.
Enforcement decisions follow the same human-review process described in our Terms of Service, and you may contact us to request a review of any enforcement action taken against your account.
15. Future Updates
As AI technology, our platform, and Mauritian and international AI governance frameworks evolve, we will revise this Policy to keep it accurate and relevant. Where we introduce a new AI-assisted feature on the platform, we will update this page in advance and, for material changes, notify registered users by email. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
